When you meet your clients you will find they genuinely desire to obtain a healthier lifestyle, which is why they have reached out to you. Some have tried and failed for years. They have been on fad diets or unrealistic exercise routines. Others have recently been diagnosed with a chronic illness like diabetes or hypertension and have been forced into having to make a decision for better health, in order to live a productive life. Then there are those who have just experienced a major health event like a heart attack and realize they have to make some serious changes to their lifestyle in order to prevent a recurrence.
Although the desire for wellness is present, there are obstacles. This is why you have been contacted. As a health coach you provide the tools to help the client recognize their barriers to wellness and overcome them. This is where your coaching skills will be critical. The wellness plan for your client includes not just any nutritional or stress management needs they may have, it also includes the journey to overcoming the barriers that keep them from utilizing those tools.
